The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
