A individual accused with harassing Kate McCann allegedly deposited her a voicemail message which asked: "what if I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has consistently declared she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial accused with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, the court was told communication data and evidence retrieved from phones logged Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is one of the most covered missing child cases and remains unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

Another recorded message, shared in court, captured Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm fat and plain like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I believe."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone expressed: "Imagine there is a small chance that I am she? What then? Is that not significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a living here in Poland, I only wish to understand," she added.

The panel was told that via emails, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a biological test, forwarded youth pictures to her phone in a bid to show a likeness to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.

The investigator, an investigator with law enforcement who gathered the information, advised the court there "didn't appear to be any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to family friends of the McCanns, based on the phone records.

On that date, Gerry McCann picked up a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "incorrect contact information."

That day Ms Wandelt recorded a voicemail on Mrs McCann's recording stating "I won't give up and I intend to demonstrate my claim."

The court heard the co-defendant developed a connection via internet with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a visit to the McCanns' residence in that area in that winter.

Phone records demonstrated Mrs Spragg had reached out via communication app to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be taken seriously in the time before the visit to that location, that area, in December 2024.

The court was told correspondence between the two accused, in November 2024, considering endeavoring to acquire Mrs McCann's genetic material from her garbage or from silverware at a eating establishment.

"We need to take action," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the trip to their house, the defendant transmitted a message which expressed: "We are sat outside the McCanns' residence with our lights out resembling detectives. I wanted to achieve this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be doing that with the McCanns."
